thoughts on the creative process
Over the course of this project, using Wix was initially challenging; I had limited knowledge of the website-building software. However, after experimenting with different design tools and seeing what creative inputs were more effective in illustrating my theme, I was quickly able to adapt and enhance my original website draft. At times, I found that Wix was restrictive with how expressive I could be and felt that maybe other website-building software like Squarespace or GoDaddy would have allowed for more creative expression and design. Nonetheless, I was pleased with the outcome of my website.

Compiling images for the gallery was one of the more challenging components of this project. Though gathering AI-generated images was an option, I felt that this wasn’t as successful in projecting my chosen theme. Therefore, I decided to source and create my images. Of all the elements involved in this project, the image gallery effectively communicated my topic of video streaming services.
Finding data for the infographic was straightforward and didn’t require as much in-depth searching as the image gallery. I found that there was a substantial amount of research articles, industry reports and academic data to add to this component. Informed by such, I chose to take on a statistical standpoint in my infographic, analysing the growth of the video streaming economy, specifically in UK contexts. Due to my familiarity with Canva, I faced little difficulty in creating the infographic with this medium.

I found building the podcast trailer quite interesting. Although initially I struggled to find a focus for the trailer, the editing and post-production process was enjoyable, albeit time-consuming, as I had to retake multiple audio recordings. While the Spotify for Podcasters software was useful in adding transitions and rearranging audio files, I chose to use an external audio-editing software to achieve my desired result. Much like the image gallery, the components of the podcast trailer also aided in presenting and enhancing my chosen topic.

The technical difficulties of this project mainly resided with Wix. Website usability, as stated by Griffey (2020), enables the website’s function to be learnable, efficient, and memorable to all users. My initial draft, however, didn’t align with user-friendly models and the integration of various digital outputs appeared overly complicated. To rectify this, I chose to go for a minimalistic approach, retaining ease of access for users and simple navigation.
